PROBILITY MARATHON (Ann Arbor - 2019 - 5K)

Probility Marathon 2019 Photos 19 Mile Drive The 2019 Probility Marathon was awesome. Jake got to be a bike lead for the marathoners.  He practiced pacing a runner with me at Huron Metropark.  I was shocked and honored.  We had a good time.  We both share a love of picture taking which we did on our run/bike ride.  Downtown Ann Arbor is very hilly!  I got a late start due to long registration lines and arriving late.  I’ve never stood in a registration line that long.  Thankfully, I was not alone.  I met a kid dressed up as an Eagle and saw many wonderful women with inspirational signs on the course. The pancakes after the race were a great surprise.  I liked the shirt and medal design because it incorporated the state of Michigan with cool colors.  As always, driving around Ann Arbor was crazy.  Luckily, parking was not bad, but it was a good walk to registration.  I picked Jake up and drove him to the run with his bike in the back of our van.  He rode back home on his bike. LANSING PIE K (Lansing - 2019 - 5K)

Lansing Day Pie K Run 2019 Photos 75 Mile Drive The 2019 Lansing Pi Day Run was a run to remember through a severe thunderstorm in downtown Lansing with small hail, 55 mph winds and a tornado touch down just northwest of the city!  I brought an extra set of clothes thinking I would get soaked. I tried to warn the race coordinators in email hours before.  I was told the weather would avoid Lansing.  The run was unique in that we were driven to the start three miles away from where we parked.  I checked the radar in the transport van.  Lansing would take a direct hit from the massive thunderstorm cell coming from Grand Rapids.  When we got out of the van I spoke to the race staff asking what weather protocol they had in place.  I was told there were overpasses on the course for safety if needed.  There was nothing I could do.  I had to get back to the Corky and the van.  The storm would hit in 10-20 minutes.  I wouldn’t be fast enough to complete the course.  A mile into the run a str

CORKTOWN RACES (Detroit - 2019 - 5K)

Corktown Races 2019 Photos 26 Mile Drive The 2019 Corktown Races were filled with Irish spirit!  I was very excited about the design logo of the Irish man and woman when I registered.  They had a very cool website.   I decided on a costume theme of “Sham Rock N’ Roll.”  It turned into a very cool project making a full-size cardboard shamrock guitar that lit up.  I didn’t have to buy a lot for this costume.  I already had a green wig and decorated an old resale vest.   Actual race day was very cold and windy.  It was not a good wig day!  I saw Kristin and took what turned out to be one of my favorite running pictures with her. Ryan and Luke ran the Emerald Mile.  Ryan was too Irish not to run with his birthday on St. Patrick’s Day.  There were so many people in Corktown.  The ground surrounding the registration tents was so muddy.  Everyone was trying to huddle inside them for warmth.   I won best costume and got a shamrock hat statute!  A photographer took an epic shot of me with my

HOODIE HOO (Harrison Township - 2019 - 5K)

Hoodie Hoo 2019 Photos 47 Mile Drive The 2019 Hoodie Hoo added a "Welcome Spring" costume contest this year.  I woke up at 5:00am and made a Pac Man theme costume.  Jason had to drive us because I was still constructing it in the car.  The costume had Pac Man with a lei and three of the ghosts wearing scarfs and hats.  Pac Man was chasing winter away by chasing the ghosts.  The kids did really well up on the stage with me.  We had only rehearsed a few times at the MetroPark.  We ended up winning us a $25 gift card to Hanson’s Running Shop which we later spent on running shoes for Luke. This Hoodie Hoo was my redemption run after a fractured pelvic bone stopped me from running halfway through the race last year.  I came in third place this time!  It was amazing.  I got to come up on stage and get a picture with two other awesome women.  They had incredibly inspiring older runners who thanked us for staying around for, “the old folks awards.”  After looking around I noticed
