RUN THE ROCK (Albion - 2021 - 5K)

Run the Rock 2021 Photos 11.6 Mile Drive Run the Rock 2021 There is a lot of time between the Forks 5K in September and Run the Rock in May.  I missed Run the Rock in 2020 and was very eager to make it to the entire Albion series in 2021.  I registered for all three events at once for the great discount of $65.00.  I had no idea our family would be living in Marshall come the start of the 2021 Albion Race Series.  Now we are a quick 12 minute drive down 94 to Albion.  Albion will take the place of my favorite running series in Burton.  It’s sad and exciting at the same time.  I will miss Burton a lot.   They were really affected by the pandemic in 2020.  Hopefully I can still go to a Burton run every few years.   We have gotten the same great parking sport three times in a row at Albion races.  We park in front of Albion Malleable Brewing Company for everytime.  I am able to walk feet to the start area from our parking spot.  I saw Caro

CAPA GLOW RUN (Hillsdale - 2021 - 5K)

CAPA Glow Run 2021 Photos 35.8 Mile Drive   Registration:    The CAPA Glow Run was part of the TRI-COUNTY Run/Walk Series.  They gave a $8.75 discount on their $25 registration if you registered a family of four for the 5K event.  It was a good discount.  I thought the registration deadline listed online was one of the earliest I’ve seen at April 1 st with an event on April 24 th .  The run was at night which really worked with my schedule and its aim was to help eliminate child abuse in Hillsdale County.  There was a TRI-COUNTY Run\Walk Series website link on RunSignUp, but when I clicked on it the website seemed a tad outdated.  From what I could see from past info the series had a lot of new cities I could run in and a lot of nice runs.  The Facebook Group for the TRI-COUNTY Series was updated for current events.  CAPA Glow Run was the first run in the 2021 series.  Course:  The course started at Sandy Beach by Baw Beese Lake.  The sun was setting when we arrived.  Th

HERO RUN (Niles - 2021 - 10K)

Hero Run 2021 Photos 96.6 Mile Drive Registration:    The Hero Run was $20 and shirts were an additional $5.00 if participants wanted one.  I always like to have shirts from runs.  The information on RunSignUp was shorter than the last couple of runs I have registered for but still had good information.  I read that they had a super hero contest but for some reason I did not make a costume.  Hero Run was the first run with a costume contest I did not make a costume for.  RunSignUp mentioned they would have doorprizes from local businesses.   There was a separate website at lifeplan.org that gave a few more details such as: Jimmy Johns and The Salvation Army would be providing the post-race food and the award ceremony would take place at the amphitheater.  I really liked how the lifeplan.org website listed the age group awards next to each other and had links to course maps.  It was a well-done website.  Course:  I registered myself for the 10K and Luke for the 5K.  It had been a

HEARTS IN MOTION 5K (Zeeland - 2021 - 5K)

Hearts in Motion 2021 Photos 101 Mile Drive Registration:    Compassionate Heart Ministries had a Hearts in Motion 5K Run/Walk and a Flamingo Fun Run which were offered in-person and in a virtual format.  Both races received race bibs but only the 5K was timed.  Their RunSignUp page was very well laid out with tons of information for the in-person and virtual events.  RunSignUp mentioned they would be using the “Ignite” timing company.  It was a timing company I had never heard of.  They also mentioned on their registration page that they had a new course route.  I learned from registration that Compassionate Heart Ministries is a place for 14-35 years olds with mild to moderate disabilities to come and meet people and get to know Christ.  It was awesome that the run gave a disclaimer that shirts ran small.  I like extra space in shirts so I went a size up when I registered. Course:  The Hearts in Motion course was a very unique loop course.  The first loop was 1.7 miles and the

MOUNTAINEER PI RUN (Byron Center - 2021 - 5K)

Mountaineer Pi Run 2021 Photos 82.6 Mile Drive   Registration: Mountaineer Pi Run used a registration website that was totally new to me called RunReg.com.  Their church website ZionChristain.com had all the information for the run with a link to RunReg.com.  I loved the church’s page layout.  It flowed very well with bolded headlines that separated the information.  One of my favorite parts from registration was the following:   “Come for the race, stay for the dessert! After triumphantly crossing the finish line of this 5K race, reward yourself with a delicious piece of pie (or another of our great post-race refreshments). All pre-registered runners will receive a t-shirt. All proceeds benefit Zion Christian School’s Mountaineer Athletic Boosters. Family and friends of participants are also welcome to enjoy a piece of pie; however, we ask that non-participants consider making a cash donation if they eat any of the pie or other race refreshments.”   The race fee was $25 until race
