DIRTY SNOWFLAKE (Peninsula, OH - 2021 - 5K) OUT OF STATE RUN

Dirty Snowflake 2021 Photos 178 Mile Drive Registration:     I used RunSignUp to register for The Dirty Snowflake.   It was like any Michigan run I’ve registered for.   I paid a little bit more for The Dirty Snowflake 5K because my original birthday run in the U.P was cancelled due to a lack of snow and I had to register very close to the event day.   The main event at the Noquemanon Snowshoe Races are cross country skiing.   You can’t cross country ski without snow.   It was so ironic an upper peninsula race got cancelled due to a lack of snow in January and not the pandemic.   The Dirty Snowflake had a second webpage with even more event information.   They had course maps, detailed aide station notes, refund policies, award breakdown…everything you needed to know about the race.   It was very easy to navigate through and one of the best event webpages I have used when registering for a run.      I was frustrated that the Noquemanon Snowshoe Race wouldn’t allow the 5K s

ODE TO SNOW (Holly - 2021 - 4.17 Miler)

Ode to Snow 2021 Photos 40.4 Mile Drive Registration:       I was running low on race options for the weekend of January 16 th .   I liked the idea of going to Holly, but UltraSignUp is home to more expensive races, even for their shorter distances.   I like how throughout the registration is on UltraSignUp.   They always have a detailed course map with a breakdown of elevation, trail width, terrain and a few pictures.   Ode to Snow’s big events on January 16th were their 8 Hour Ode backyard and 8 Hour Ode continuous race.   The continuous format tests participants to see how far they can run non-stop for 8 hours.   The backyard format sets participants off in 4.17 mile loops with breaks in between.   Both are extremely difficult and greatly test endurance. Course:   The course was a 4.17 loop in Holly State Recreational Area circling around Valley and Wildwood Lakes starting on the southeast side of Wildwood Lake.   They race used the address of 5000 McGinnis Roa

Mark the Barber's Polar Run 2021 Photos 109 Mile Drive Registration:   Registration was $20 until December 1 st and only $25 after.   It was a very reasonable race fee.   Registration included a long sleeve T-shirt.   It wasn’t my favorite design but it was for a very good cause, Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R).   O.U.R rescues kids from sex-trafficking with the help of former police officers and CIA.   Mark the Barber is very passionate about this great cause.   Registration also included finisher medals and a swag bag.   Same day registration was in the main hallway inside Maple Valley Elementary.   They had three tables.   Two had folded shirts and one had O.U.R wrist bands, pamphlets and stickers.   Pre-registration was inside the cafeteria.   I went to the same day registration table by mistake. Course:   The course started on the Diamond Walking Trail next to the elementary school.   The trail was a very large steam engine shaped path (Google Earth v
