Pittsford Firecracker (Pittsford - 2021 - 5K)

Pittsford Firecracker Photos 46.3 Mile Drive Registration: The Pittsford Firecracker had a brief but very informative description that described the course, age group awards and gave some history about the run.   It was a very cool fact that the Pittsford Firecracker 10K is the only 10K in Hillsdale County and 2021 was its sixth year.   The Tri-County Series section of the registration page was not updated from 2019.   I couldn’t find updated information on the Tri-County website.   Their Facebook page seemed to be the best source for current information but still left me with some questions.   There was a nice PDF showing the 5K and 10K course routes on the registration page.           Packet pick-up was under a nice blue and white pavilion next to a school playscape.   Four overall trophies were sitting on a table.   I thought I had registered Luke for the 5K but I had not.   He kept debating registering before I started but ended up deciding against it.   The small a

History Hustle Photos 11.6 Mile Drive For the first time in four years (13 straight races) the #RunAlbion series cancelled a run in their series.  It was extremely sad for race staff and runners.  My goal was to run all three Albion races this year.  Last year I missed Run the Rock while it was still held during the covid shutdown.  Ironnically, I will have a similar 2021 year in Albion with only two live races of three.  This time the cancellation was due to weather, another love of mine.   I’m always looking at weather in advance for upcoming runs.  I saw that my June 26 th weekend looked a little concerning for the History Hustle and Pittsford Firecracker 10K.  As Friday came along there were storms in the morning and early afternoon that swept through.  Storm activity for the night changed suddenly for the better.  Albion made the call to cancel at 1:00pm.  I tried to email them and hint that weather may be better but I didn’t want to push the issue.  I kept hoping they co

Concord Classic Photos 25 Mile Drive Registration:   The Concord Classic was part of the Orthopeadic Rehad Specialists race series. The series includes nine races all near the Jackson metro area.   It was started with the goal of motivating people to get fit and active.   Online registration stated that the Concord Classic drew in participants from all over the country.   I couldn’t believe it.   I had a misconception of a small town, smaller distance run not drawing in runners outside of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.   It was an interesting fact.   My first thought was that the race was very prestigious with many elite runners.   The course was described as flat and fast, a good course for getting a personal best.   The course was most likely a reason for the out of state racers.   I know Albion draws in many out of state racers for their yearly Foundry Mile, but they also give out $1,000 cash to the overall female and male winners.   A flight to come to Albion and more ar
