NO FRILLS ALL THRILLS (Brighton - 2020 - 4K)

No Frills All Thrills 2020 Photos 29 Mile Drive The 2020 No Frills All Thrills was a completely different race from 2019.  Due to the Coronavirus there was no official start time and no timer present.  The race director decided to let participants that still wanted to come show up and starting running whenever they choose from 9:00am until noon.  Upon finishing we showed our running app results to Don and got official times!  I thought this was a wonderful idea.  No Frills All Thrills is already a trail run out in nature.  Runners were given the option to defer their 2020 registration to 2021.  Many did that.  That brought race numbers down to 41.  Take that number and spread it across a three hour start time window and you have a brilliant way to keep runners safe and provide the running relief we all needed.  Runners are missing events more than ever since this pandemic.  Being able to go outside and exercise is great, but a lot of runners enjoy being around other runners from tim

LANSING PIE K (Lansing - 2020 - 5K)

Lansing Pie K 2020 Photos 74 Mile Drive The 2020 Lansing Pie Run was a change to my March race itinerary.  I had five runs cancel due to the coronavirus.  Three rescheduled and one is attempting to reschedule.  I got so many emails with cancellations.  I saw a Pi Run email and thought it was another cancellation.  To my surprise the Pi Run was writing to say they were still on!  I was very excited.  Soon after I got another email stating Potterville’s Blarney Stone Marathon was also still on.  Potterville was offering heavy discounts for registrants that had events cancelled.  I had to make a choice and it came down to the history.  The Pi Run’s first year was last year in 2019.  They should have cancelled their run with severe weather imminent that day.  I had emailed knowing the system was coming in, but they thought Lansing was safe from the threat.  The worst part was we were bused to a starting point three miles from the finish.  That is something unique I had never done before

HOODIE HOO (Harrison Township - 2020 - 5K)

Hoodie Hoo 2020 Photos 47 Mile Drive The 2020 Hoodie Hoo was a morning of fun for all of us (Corky included).  Hoodie Hoo is one of the most dog friendly events I have ever attended.  Dogs get bone shaped mini bibs for their collars and their own medals!  They stand with their owners on the podium for awards.  I think that is beyond awesome!   Hoodie Hoo has a picture-perfect venue at Saint Clair Metro Park with a wonderful warm indoor seating area and stage.  I love that they added their Bring in Spring Costume Contest last year.  This year I once again procrastinated and found myself scrambling to put together a home-made costume the night before the race.  I improved a little from last year’s 5:00am construction start time.  I wanted to take a trip to Michaels but we ran out of time so I ended up doing a $0 production cost “Super Flower” costume.  The sign turned out the best and my old Salsa Club skirt made for a good cape.  I wish I could have done more, but it was still a prett
