NORTH MITTEN (Thompsonville - 2021 - 5K)

North Mitten 2021 Photos 218 Mile Drive Registration:   I loved the North Mitten medal.  It is what drew me to the race.  Anytime I can receive a medal shaped like Michigan or with Michigan on it, it’s amazing.  North Mitten had three race distances, a half marathon, 10K and 5K.  I registered late for the half marathon, but it was still a good price.  There was a lot of information on Sport Nomad about the race.  I had never been on Sport Nomad’s website before.  They had a very detailed description of the event.  On both Crystal Mountain and Sport Nomad it stated that the courses were a mix of trails, dirt roads and paved roads.  The three events would start a half hour apart with the 5K last.  Two awesome things I learned on the registration page were:   1.      Participants could plant a tree (trees were available at packet pick-up) or donate a tree and let North Mitten plant it in memory of someone.  My Earth Day run in Brighton was the only other run that has plated trees.

HUDSON SACRED HEART SHS 5K (Hudson - 2021 - 5K)

Hudson Sacred Heart 2021 Photos 65 Mile Drive Registration:   Once again, just like Thurston Woods, there were two race information websites, RunSignUp and Hudson Sacred Heart’s own parish website.  RunSignUp had very limited information but there were amazing statements in the short paragraph they had that included: “ At SHS our students learn the importance of being spiritually, physically, and mentally fit.”  &  “Racers of all fitness levels are welcome to participate, whether you walk the course or run it!” ( https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Hudson/SacredHeartSchool5K )   I completely agree that overall health is not only physical and that we need to keep all areas of health in the best shape we can.  Physical health is extremely important and often times helps lift mental health.  I know that on a very personal level.  I also believe anyone that finishes a 5K course is amazing regardless of what their speed is.      RunSignUp was more of a personal welcome

THURSTON WOODS RUN FOR THE RESIDENTS 5K (Sturgis - 2021 - 5K)

Thurston Woods Run for the Residents 5K 2021 Photos 50 Mile Drive Registration: There were two websites with identical descriptions for the Thurston Woods Run for the Residents 5K.   RunSignUp’s description was copied from Thurston Woods website.   You could only register on RunSignUp for the race.   Race info was divided into the following categories on their website: Registration Link Place Description Event Location Event Times Registration Fees Kids Rate T-shirts Weather Disclaimer The best part about the Thurston Woods registration was that kids 10 and under could run the 5K free without a shirt.   Money from the event went to purchase covid supplies so that residents of Thurston Woods could see their families more frequently with the current covid restrictions.   The Thurston Woods website was very easy to navigate.     Packet pick-up was under the drop off area at the entrance to Thurston Woods.   I was given the wrong bag with a raffle prize attach
