JAZZ BLUEBERRY RUN (Shelby - 2020 - 5K)

Jazz Blueberry Run 2020 Photos 23 Mile Drive (Two Run Weekend Trip) I don’t know how to begin when it comes to The Jazz Blueberry Run.  I will start with our time at Lake Michigan and end with all the chaos that took place during the actual run.   We had a great Saturday afternoon.  After visiting Fremont we drove to Muskegon State Park and watched boats go in and out of the harbor.  We saw a Golden Retriever on the front of a boat, it was amazing!  So many sailboats were going out to Lake Michigan.  It’s so peaceful to watch boats.  We left Muskegon State Park and headed to our favorite dog friendly beach in Muskegon, Norman Kruse Park.  Jason and the kids built a massive sandcastle.  I decorated it with grass and rocks.  It had a moat and a wall to stop water from destroying it.  We put a towel down for the floor of the castle and put Corky inside it for a photo-opt.  He ended up enjoying himself too much as Beach Lord and laid down inside it.  He stayed in the castle while we wen

CHRIS COOK MEMORIAL RUN (Fremont - 2020 - 5K)

Chris Cook Memorial Run 2020 Photos 185 Mile Drive The Chris Cook Memorial Run was an elaborate city extravaganza weekend I put together after missing two weeks of running.  There were no runs the weekend after The Greatest Fourth in the North and the week after that was a weekend reserved for Jason’s LARP.  I wanted to make up for the lack of cities.  I miraculously found two runs on two separate days during the same weekend 40 minutes apart in two new cities.  Jason landed a camping ground smack in between the two cities so that our drive each morning was 20 minutes.  Twenty minutes was a huge difference from the 45 minute drive into Lake City on our last camping trip.  Both runs also had later start times of 8:00am and 9:00am. The Oak Knoll Family Campground was very different than Kestelwoods.  It had a lot more trees.  The camp sites were staggered with natural steps and had a dense forest behind them.  Their check-in was a very cool general store that was right on site.  They

The Greatest Fourth in the North 2020 Photos 209 Mile Drive The Greatest Fourth in the North was a race I had had my eye on for a year.  When my friend Don emailed me on May 14th and told me he had found a race that was still live I was thrilled!  I was also shocked that a race was confident so far in the future during the middle of the lockdown.  I called their race director (who was teleworking from his garage) and got confirmation the race would still take place on the Fourth of July.  I signed up that day and emailed Don back to let him know.  He said he was signing up too.  I was so excited that the future had a race in it and I would see a friend.  Don is the No Frills All Thrills race director.  No Frills was the last race I ran before the lockdown started and racing got cancelled for months. We decided to make The Greatest Fourth into our first family camping trip.   Jason’s parents gave us his dad’s Coleman 1979 tent because they hadn’t used it in many years.  It was an ama
